DY A HR anomaly

The DY A HR anomaly

The anomaly in the upper left corner of the second panel of the sculpture, causing certain letters to appear offset comparing to the rest of the text, has been noticed for a long time and is necessarily important.

The method propsed here would make it possible to give an explanation to this anomaly, using several pairs of letters used in this part of the sculpture:

  • DY for the “FORTY YA[…]” part (position 0 to 6).

  • OH for the “HOUR[W}AND” part (position 13 to 20) in the solution n°1 above.

  • Complete DY A HR sequence for “FORTY YA[…]RDS BY” (position 0 to 22) in the solution n°2 above.

  • TN for the “STNORTHEAS” part (position 23 to 32).

The meaning of the isolated A, in the DY A HR anomaly, remains obscure in this approach.
The solution n°2 propose an interpretation but several solutions are still possible, without claiming to exhaust the range of possibilities:

  • It could correspond to the length of the sequence DY (A being the 8th letter of the KRYPTOS alphabet and the DY sequence having 7 characters).

  • It could be the abscissa to be used for the start of the sequence, its length being predicted or coded elsewhere.

  • If we admit the possibility of rearranging the key of the 1st layer, it could also refer to the abscissa to be taken into account for this first coding step.

  • Finally, it could refer to the following sequence to use, located elsewhere in the rest of the sculpture.

Where is the location indicated by the K4 code ?

The solution to the K4 code would point to a location 40 yards in the East-North-East direction. There is, however, a well-known difficulty concerning the starting point:

  • Either this is the location of the sculpture: 38° 57′ 8.1″ N, 77° 08′ 44.8″ W

  • Either this is the location defined in the K2 code solution, which differs slightly by around 55 yards: 38° 57′ 6.5″ N, 77° 08′ 44″ W

The two sites are shown here, leading inside the building,
